Postby vijay_8209 » Mon Sep 07, 2015 12:14 am

Team,

Need your in understanding this SDK a bit more.

1. is it mandatory to use HTML 5 ?

2. We have developed Android based mobile app without using HTML 5. Will this straight away work on Android based Smart TV without using Smart SDK ?

3. Will we be able to add your simulator or emulator on the Android Studio ? Any guidelines here ?

4. Heard Toshiba has released Android OS support. Will this SDK support that ?

Regards

VJ

Dear VJ,

per your questions:
1. applications developed according to the Smart TV Alliance specification are all based on a subset of HTML 5.
2. applications developed using other methods are not compliant to the Smart TV Specification. As such, these applications will not work on all Smart TV Alliance conforming devices.

Team,

Thanks for your quick response.

I read your answer as follows :

1. HTML 5 is mandatory
2. Emulator will work only with Eclipse and possible to integrate with Android studio

Kindly confirm.

My Apologies for re-confirming. New Bee.....

Hi VJ,

For 1: HTML 5 is mandatory according to the subset defined by the Smart TV Alliance Specification, please review the document here: https://developers.smarttv-alliance.org/specification
For 2: the emulator is indeed delivered with a version of Eclipse, and is designed to function with that specific version. You cannot use the emulator with Android Studio.

Thank you,
Regards,
